F-Bomb

Filibuster.

It took all of three days for the Democrats to find an 'extraordinary circumstance' to trigger yet another filibuster--this time it's John Bolton. Now they are demanding State Department documents from '03 regarding Syria's supposed WMD and a classified list of secret operatives.

Again with the WMD argument. Iraq didn't have them, even though the Bush Administration said they did, so Syria doesn't have them either, the Democrats might argue. So Bolton is a complete boob and by extension, so is George Bush and we can't allow these two idiots to screw up such a wonderful, robust human rights organization like the United Nations.

Or perhaps if the Left can leak the names of some CIA agents, get them killed or compromise the security of the United States, the Democrats might just be able to sink Bolton's nomination as UN envoy! Hey, wouldn't that be great?

I think this nicely illustrates why a good many number of conservatives were angry about the Gang Of 14 deal on Monday. The most obvious question then was knowing the inevitabililty of the Minority finding an 'extraordinary circumstance' over which to engage additional filibusters.

To the Democrats, an 'extraordinary circumstance' is the United States having a Republican President. To the Democrats the fact that the Republicans are in the Majority is itself an 'extraordinary circumstance.'

The real tragedy of the Seven GOP Senators becoming traitors this past Monday is that it gave Harry Reid and his gang of bi-polar lunatics the ability to dictate the rules of the game. No matter what the Democrats do they win, either in public opinion polls because most Americans are so disengaged or by continued Senate obstructionism, which keeps grinding the Bush agenda to a halt.

Krauthammer writes brilliantly about this today.

Great post, Kent. "Extraordinary Circumstances" can be defined much like the words "is" or "sex" were by the Democrats last century.
