confidence
Every speech the President gives is better than the one he gave before. He is confident. He is optimistic. He is right."We cannot find security by retreating into our borders."
"There is no peace in retreat. There is no honor in retreat."
"The U.S. will not retreat from the world and we will never surrender to evil."
"America rejects the false comfort of isolation."
"Iraqi's are showing their courage everyday and we are proud to be their allies in freedom."
Quite frankly, Bush is so intellectually superior to the opposition party, it's almost unfair. By comparison, the Democrats look silly. Tonight during the S.O.T.U., when Bush referenced Social Security and how the Left had obstructed the White House's efforts to reform it and save it, the Democrats leapt out of their seats, cheering.
So are we to take it that the Left wants Social Security to die? To just vanish? That's how I took it. They don't have any ideas to fix it anyway. According to the reasoning of the Left, maybe if they ignore it long enough, it'll just go away.
To his credit, Bush laid to rest that myth.
Like the kids say, 'Duh.'

That moment when the democrats leapt up is exactly what I thought was the most memorable and telling moment when thinking over the speech in my mind. Right before he mentioned social security there was sort of light hearted moment when the camera zoomed in on Hilary when the president amicably referred to her husband and himself turning sixty soon. It went from hand extended in friendship to absurdist theatre when the democrats leapt up to cheer on the fact that everybody in that room had failed too address an impending crisis of social security. So typical of the left to be cheering on something negative. So let me get this straight, they believe it is a good thing that the Government has so far squandered any opportunity to correct the failing of the social security system. This moment was so telling. The left side of the aisle has no agenda other than blocking whatever they can of the president’s proposed initiatives. That's what excites them. Not a dazzling new proposal of their own or even suggested modifications. Arresting progress is their goal. This was the only time they actually gave a standing ovation and meant it. The whole room was on its feet after Bush declared something like,” Regardless of the debates of the past, it is in the best interest of America to see the war in Iraq to its conclusion". A sentiment that was so logical every one in the room found themselves rising to their feet in applause. In reality the left does not agree with this sentiment. As is the case with social security they would prefer to arrest the progress of the war in Iraq if they were being truthful. Are we to believe that democrats seek to block progress on every other front, which they demonstrably do, except the war in Iraq? No, precisely the opposite, they want the president to fail especially in Iraq. If the president had announced, "We are losing the war in Iraq." The Democrats may well have leapt to their feet in applause! They have lost all sense of even being American it seems at times.
