iraq's wmd in syria?

What's this? Saddam Hussein had WMD but he shipped them to Syria in advance of the US-led invasion? No way! Do you mean to tell me that Sean Penn was wrong? Actors don't REALLY know about WMD? Get outta here!

Georges Sada, the former # 2 official in Saddam Hussein's air force, claims in a new book, "Saddam's Secrets," that ahead of the war, Saddam ordered the WMD moved to Syria, something many of us, including me, have been saying for the better part of three years.

"There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands," Mr. Sada said. "I am confident they were taken over."

Two Boeing passenger jets were converted to cargo planes. It was these planes that flew 56 flights to Syria (along with a ground convoy of trucks) transporting what Sada describes as "yellow barrels with skull and crossbones on each barrel."

This attacted no attention, according to Sada, because it was viewed as humanitarian aid to Syria after the collapse of a dam caused a severe flood in June '02.

Sada also points out that Ariel Sharon stated the following on Israel's Channel 2 on December 23, 2002: "Chemical and biological weapons which Saddam is endeavoring to conceal have been moved from Iraq to Syria."

Syria denied the claim.

I doubt very much that you'll see this information on CNN or in the NYT.
