'witholding support'

Mark Malloch Brown, the number two guy at the United Nations, thinks that Rush Limbaugh and the Fox News Channel (in other words, two of the most popular sources of news in America) 'undermines' the work of the UN.

Really? I have some questions:

Did America undermine the efforts to prevent genocide in Rhwanda? Darfur? Southern Lebanon? East Timor?

Does America prevent the UN from stemming the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa?

Does America continually prop up brutal regimes in Syria, Iraq, Iran?

The UN attempted to prevent the US from liberating Iraq, after the US enforced the UN's own resolutions -- all 16 of them -- to remove Saddam Hussein from power. To this day, Kofi Annan claims Iraq was 'an illegal war.'

The UN's human rights commission is comprised of member nations that consistently ignore the basic human rights of their citizens.

The United Nations, the most corrupt 'human rights' organization in world history enabled all of this illegal behavior and much, much more.

I could go on and on and on...I could write about the rampant corruption of the UN but it would take up all my time.

Check out this dig Malloch Brown gets in at UN Ambassador John Bolton:

"Exacerbating matters is the widely held perception, even among many U.S. allies, that the U.S. tends to hold on to maximalist positions when it could be finding middle ground."

Not really. We just don't need to lectured about good policy by rogue nations.

BTW, I did some research and found an interview Malloch Brown did on -- FOX NEWS -- and he was singing the praises of Bolton. Here's what he said:

"People forget a little bit more than 10 years ago [Bolton] was a very effective assistant secretary of state in the State Department dealing with the U.N.

Second, you know, a U.S. ambassador to the U.N. has to be very effective in New York, but he also has to be very effective in Washington. And, of course, that's where there's a real silver lining to John Bolton's appointment."

Malloch Brown claims that the US is 'witholding support' from the UN. Last time I checked we still pay the majority of the UN's operating budget. Perhaps he's confusing 'support' with 'skepticism.'

Sez he:

"The prevailing practice of seeking to use the U.N. almost by stealth as a diplomatic tool while failing to stand up for it against its domestic critics is simply not sustainable," said the deputy, Mark Malloch Brown. "You will lose the U.N. one way or another."

'Losing the UN?' What a GREAT idea! I wish I'd thought of that! The day that the UN ceases to exist will be a victory for freedom, democracy, human rights and truth everywhere.
