'tired, lifeless'

Pollster extraordinaire Frank Luntz believes the GOP lost the midterm elections because of poor communication skills.

"The Republicans who won in 1994 were bold, passionate visionaries with the courage to go to the people with a clearly-defined, new agenda and a freshly minted lexicon around The Contract with America that educated average Americans, not just political elites. Issues and principles drove them. Words and visions excited them.

"The Republican Party that lost in 2006 was a tired, lifeless shell of the articulate, reformist, forward-thinking movement that was swept into office in 1994 on a wave of positive change."
