backbone

GOP Senators blocked an effort by Democrats to hold a no-confidence vote on Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.

Are the Republicans finally getting some freaking backbone?

The President has full discretion about hiring and firing US Attorneys. Gonzales shouldn't lose his job for following orders.

Even if the Congress voted a no-confidence, it wouldn't mean anything. Just more political show from the Dims.

I guess we should be grateful that the Dems get distracted so easily from actually damaging the country with meaningful legislation. As far as the Republicans getting some backbone, I'll believe that when they stand up to the President and propose an enforcement-only immigration bill. Yes, I'm a cynic...and the D.C. Republicans create more of them every day we watch their act.

Harry Reid derailed the immigration bill in the Senate. They had the votes. But Reid killed it because the Dems can't afford to give Bush a perceived victory going into '08.
