from the right

Two interesting pieces on MSNBC.com well worth your time and attention.

Click here to read about Nebraska's 38 year old Attorney General Jim Bruning who is challenging the re-election of Senator Chuck Hagel next year.

Shameless ambition has inflicted Hagel. His leftward lurch (along with Oregon's Smith, South Carolina's Graham and Ohio's Voinovich) is completely unacceptable. If I have anything to say about it, Hagel, and the other bastards, will not be re-elected.
“Nebraska is more conservative than the nation as a whole,” said Bruning. “Senator Hagel, however, has become more liberal. And for some reason he has an anger to George Bush that is not particularly productive.”
Click here to go backstage with Fred Thompson.
"Fred Thompson isn’t officially a candidate for president, but he might as well be. The pomp and circumstance accompanying his highly publicized visit to South Carolina on Wednesday—home of the “first-in-the-South” presidential primary—followed just the script you’d expect from a onetime Hollywood actor turned White House hopeful."
As much as I'm looking forward to Fred in the race, I'm already sick to death of the MSM's obligatory 'He's An Actor' slug line. There's excitement surrounding Thompson both from the GOP base but also from the national press corps hungry for a new subject to cover and a new victim to devour.

I've changed my mind about Thompson running, too. I was concerned the Guiliani campaign would suffer as a result, but now I think a person of Fred's caliber would be a great addition to the field and would only enhance the dialogue on both sides.
