'better than expected'
The Democrats are lying to you about the economy.
Not only is the economy fine, as John McCain says it is, GDP (the best barometer of economic health) increased 3.3% this spring.
The economy is good, albeit slowing. It's not as good as it was, but still good. And saying it is bad is, well, a lie.

"the economy is good" funny... didn't know this was a comedy blog!
Unemployment is at a 4-year high, half a million jobs gone this year, and residential construction is down.
How can you say the "Economy is good" when the Chief Economist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce says "it's the last hurrah for this economic cycle." And that the GDP number does not take into account the underlying problems that have not been reflected yet.
You know how why the economy is bad? Go the pub, ask your friends how their businesses are doing, go to your nearest car dealership, go try to get a loan from a Bank, go try to find a job for that matter.
But yeah, 3.3%... let me do some cartwheels (sarcasm).
I'll agree that we're not in a recession based on how we currently define it. But I would argue that our current definition is a bit outdated. Sorry buddy, but this is one of the worst postings I've read. Love ya though!
'Good' and 'bad" are relative terms.
Bill Clinton handed off a growth rate of negative 0.49% to George W. Bush in 2001.
My point is that the economy could be worse. And that it isn't what the Dems are saying it is. They are lying as they always do.
Yes, the economy could be worse. A lot of things could be worse.
So basically you're accusing the Democrats, tons of economists, etc. that they are lying.
I'd feel a whole lot better about McCain if he would stop saying the fundamentals of our economy are strong. Talk about out of touch with reality. That my friend, is a lie.
I'm not accusing the Democrats of anything. I am telling you that the Democrats are lying. About the economy. (Imagine that. Lying about the economy in an election year.) About Iraq. About the war on terror. About George W. Bush.
This current crop of Democrats from Pelosi, Reid, Durbin, Boxer, Obama and Biden on down are the biggest group of liars ever to serve in Washington DC.
It kind of reminds me of what Clinton/Gore were saying back in 1992. "The worst economy since Herbert Hoover." A lie. And this economy is way, way, way better than the '92 economy.
