well done
One thing I never expected from McCain: Amazing advertising.
Every single spot is better than the last. Irreverent, relevant, prescient and now incredibly gracious.
John McCain congratulating Obama on becoming becoming the first African American presidential nominee is beyond gracious.
Such graciousness won't go unnoticed by Blue Dogs and Independents.
Win or lose, McCain is a class act. Something the Democrats know nothing about.

Keep up with me, Sparky.
The ad congratulating Obama is classy.
I'm writing slowly so you won't get confused.
The Britney/Paris ad was funny.
Got it, Einstein?
It amuses me that Obama fans are so disturbed by the use of the fleeting images of Paris and Britney to make a relevant point about Obama's celebrity that they are still bitching and moaning about it weeks later.
Any effective critique of Obama is judged to be a "smear" by his followers. What a bunch of babies.
The great thing is, these guys can't touch McCain. They're running against George Bush. They're running the campaign today that Kerry would have run in 2004, had he not been Shrum'd. McCain is not Bush - never was, and never will be. There are things about McCain that I do not like. There are things about McCain that I admire, and revere. I could say the same about Bush, but they are not the same likes and dislikes.
Fact is, McCain is qualified to lead, and his national security credentials are unassailable. He was criticizing Rumsfeld back before it was fashionable, and the Dems know it. He called for more troops and a different strategy from the get-go, and Dems know it. He was right about the surge, and the Dems know it (though Obama studiously ignores it). He served his nation in a way that is undisputable heroic - and yet he refers to his experience only when prompted (which, inevitably, happens often). Meanwhile, John Kerry couldn't wait to remind folks that he spent four months in a swamp in 'Nam, video camera and all. I doubt the NVA allowed McCain much film in Hao Loa.
This man flew fighter jets - nay, slower and less well-protected A-4E Skyhawk attack jets into the teeth of the tiger. Imagine driving a Honda Civic through Baghdad, circa 2004 - that is the equivalent of what McCain did in 'Nam, except his enemies weren't using roadside bombs, they were using sophisticated radar-guided 85-100mm guns and SA-2 Guideline SAMs.
I really think that the Dems are in serious trouble this year. It's going to be close either way (unless Biden talks too much), but I think there's a growing sense of panic in the DNC right now. Their cake-walk is turning into a death march.
