tax cheat

Treasury Secretary nominee Tim Geithner failed to pay taxes from '01-'04.

And I love what incoming Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs had to say about this. It's very Clintonian. No, it's Obamanian.
"(Geithner) has dedicated his career to our country and served with honor, intelligence and distinction. That service should not be tarnished by honest mistakes, which, upon learning of them, he quickly addressed."
Gibbs is just a really bad liar and it will be fun deconstructing all the whoppers he's going to be telling over the next four years. There's no honor in taking five to eight years to pay back taxes.

In fact, Geithner only paid the money he owed the IRS days before Obama announced his nomination. Yeah, he's really serving with 'distinction.'

Meanwhile, Joe the Plumber (a private citizen who had no prior interest in gov't), had a $1,500 tax lein that even county officials told the press that "he could be unaware of, since we mailed out the documentation two days ago", and he was un-American.

I also don't think he had a Mexican housekeeper, whose legal status slipped in the course of employment (and was questionable from the start).

Oh, nevermind - he wasn't a government licensed plumber. Because God forbid we revive the concept of the town handyman, or the friendly guy at the auto-parts store changing a woman's air filter on her Chevy Malibu. He isn't a licensed mechanic - you could get sued!!1!!

The day when I need to fill out a form to purchase a matchbook is coming. The day when the government can forbid me from cutting the neighbor lady's grass for her because I'm not either a "government licensed lawncare technician" or "an illegal immigrant from Honduras" is coming.

Exactly.

How many times have I heard about the so-called brilliance of Geithner? But the guy is so dumb he screws up his own taxes?

Are they serious?
