going in

Had Obama come into office and been what he promised during the campaign -- a bipartisan leader -- things would be a lot different right now.

Instead, the Magic Negro did exactly what Democrats always do: He roared into town a bare-knuckled partisan and arrogantly over-reached, misinterpreting his victory for a mandate.

photo op

When the President is a Democrat, this is the kind of stupid stuff that is deemed as "important."

If this was really a sincere effort to discuss race or the events of the Gates arrest, it should have been done in private, off the record.

Meanwhile, in typical Obama fashion, the real person wronged in this ridiculous sideshow, Lucia Whalen, was thrown under the bus, just like the President's grandmother.

bad dogs

Whores Ross (D-AR), Space (D-OH), Hill (D-IN) and Gordon (D-TN) as expected, caved to the far left wing of the so-called 'Democratic' Party and have indicated they will vote for killing the economy of the United States via Obamacare.

obama is a liar

[Chart]

A new NPR poll shows the GOP slightly edging the Democrats on the generic ballot, 43%-43%, statistically within in the margin or error, but proving that the Republicans aren't irrelevant, like many hyper-partisan Democrats claim.

Gallup has the Magic Negro at an all-time low.

No wonder the President is back again to his tried-and-true whining baby act of bashing Bush, while lying about both Obamacare:
"Here's a guarantee that I've made: If you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance. If you've got a doctor that you like, you will be able to keep your doctor."
And the stimulus:
"This bill does not have a single earmark in it, which is unprecedented for a bill of this size. There aren't individual pork projects that members of Congress are putting into this bill."
Outrageous. Those are the biggest whoppers I've ever heard come out of the mouth of an American President.

Hope, change and transparency.

calling the blue dogs

President Obama delivered remarks on health-care reform on Tuesday in the Rose Garden. The president also met with Blue Dog Coalition members to negotiate fixes, but members said afterward that some issues are still unsolved. Obama will hold a televised news conference Wednesday to make his case.

So far, so good with the Blue Dog Democrats and Obamacare.

Call or write these guys on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and thank them for saving America's health care system. Tell them to remain strong in their opposition to economy-killing health care 'reform.'

Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR) -- 202.225.3772
Rep. Zack Space (D-OH) -- 202.225.6265
John Barrow (D-GA) -- 202.225.2823
Bart Gordon (D-TN) -- 202.225.4231
Baron Hill (D-IN) -- 202.225.5315
Jim Matheson (D-UT) -- 202.225.3011
Charlie Melancon (D-LA) -- 202.225.4031

Will Blue Dog opposition to socialized medicine hold or will it go the way of SCHIP, stimulus, the 2010 budget and cap and trade?

Are the Blue Dogs are really as 'conservative' as they claim when they seem to be supportive of taxing the insurance companies, which will only make health insurance less affordable and a plan to create "an independent panel to oversee Medicare reimbursement rates and broader reforms"?

Both of those sound like very Liberal and needlessly bureaucratic ideas to me.

fonzie

Ehhhh!

Given the failure of stimulus and the unpopularity of both cap and trade and Obamacare, is it fair to say that Liberalism has jumped the shark?

The radical agenda of the Democrats stinks to high heaven and America doesn't much like it.

way to go, joe

I rip on the Vice President a lot, but let me congratulate him on saying some extremely smart things about the state of American/Russian relations.
“I think we vastly underestimate the hand that we hold. They’re in a situation where the world is changing before them and they’re clinging to something in the past that is not sustainable.”
Biden also described Russia's economy and population as "withering."

Axelrod and Emanuel suck at foreign policy. Maybe they should give Joe a bigger portfolio.

under the knife

Does Pelosi sleep with her eyes open? Why are Biden's eyes shaped like my BMW headlights?

The Dems must be desperate: A plastic surgery tax?

Apparently, to help pay for health care, Congress might tax face-lifts, tummy tucks and hair transplants.

we've figured him out

Ben Stein hits the nail on the head.
"The American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East, way beyond naïveté, all the way into active destruction of our interests and our allies and our future."
Ignoring all the dangers signs, Obama's thin resume, his associating with bad people, the impossible campaign promises, the good and decent American electorate liked what it heard from Obama, and they voted for him on faith alone.

Not a smart way to elect a President. I've never regretted a Presidential vote I've cast because I've always done my homework.

not the goal?

Obama's not necessarily focused on 'victory' in Afghanistan?

What's the point, then?

the david and rahm show

I am thoroughly enjoying the current Obama meltdown, but I don't think it's going to last. I'm hoping that Barack never recovers in the polls. It would certainly be best for America if that were to happen.

But all new Administrations take a few months to get up and running. Usually it's three to four months of rookie mistakes and embarrassments, not six or seven as it has been thus far for the Magic Negro. This isn't the way David Axelrod and Rahm Emanuel, the real President and Vice President, planned it.

Yes, the Manchurian Obama will get his foot out of his mouth soon enough and then we really will be in trouble. Or maybe not. Maybe we're closer to bouncing Barry and all his stupid socialist ideas than we think.

jimmy obama

Why is POTUS picking a fight with Cambridge, Massachusetts police officers over a recent arrest and calling them 'stupid'?

Oh, yeah. It's about race. It's also very unbecoming for the President to inject himself into a local law enforcement matter. He's got bigger fish to fry.

This type of micromanaging reminds me of the stupid Jimmy Carter, the worst President in American history. This type of rhetoric reminds me of the stupid, anti-American racist Jeremiah Wright.

And the rest of last night's news conference was just about as stupid. BO, spent the whole time lying and the White House press corps never challenged him on any of it.

Wednesday, July 22

smart move, mr. president

Congratulations to the Obama Administration for finally making a smart foreign policy decision: They support Ukraine's admission into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. (NATO)

I wonder what kind of crazy crap Vice President Biden said to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko?

connecting the dots

Democrats cite killing the F-22 funding because Afghanistan is a different kind of war. But what about future conflicts? Connecting the dots, looking forward, this makes America less safe.

The F-22 is a combat, air-to-air fighter that flies at supersonic speed to avoid radar detection. One question. Why not have the best military equipment in the world, to keep up with China and Russia?

It's a dangerous world, yet it is on military spending where the Democrats suddenly become fiscally responsible? This is just reckless stewardship of national security, the Achilles Heel of the Left.

'personal gain'

In their attempts to tear Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) down, the Democrats left no stone unturned. They didn't find anything, hence their absurd claim now that defending herself against scurrilous FOIA charges is an ethics violation.

more obamacare

In 1993, President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton listen to a man's story about health care problems.

Democrats don't remember history.
Democrats don't understand history.
But history repeats.

Hillarycare in 1994? Conducted in secret before it crashed and burned.
Obamacare in 2009? So secret the President hasn't even read the bill.

obama, fail

Delaying Obamacare? Maybe Republicans aren't irrelevant after all.

Delaying closing Gitmo? Closing the Gitmo country club is a stupid idea anyway. But I thought Obama had a plan?

Delaying the stimulus? Obama isn't serious about fixing the economy. And how outrageous is that for the President of the United States to push counter-productive legislation through Congress?

What about 'lowering the oceans? Has that plan been delayed, too?

BTW, MSNBC is showing a countdown clock to Barry's press conference tonight. Oh, yeah. The MSM loves them some Magic Negro.

Oh, good stuff here. The five questions Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) would like the always objective press corps to ask the President in 2:24:11...2:24:10...2:24:09...

$15 billion in cuts

"Basic agreement" between Schwarzenegger and the Democrats in the California legislature. And no new taxes.

Monday, July 20

ham & cheese

The federal government was wasteful under Bush, but even more so under Obama, the guy who promised to go 'line by line' in the federal budget and cut waste.

Our federal deficit is now the highest it's ever been. For the first time the deficit is over $11 trillion. $11 trillion! And the Democrats continue to spend.

Look where some of the so-called 'stimulus' money is going... according to Recovery.gov:

$1,562,568 for mozzarella cheese (Congressional district, Ohio-11)
$2,531, 600 for cooked, frozen, sliced ham (California-34)
$5,708,260 for cheese manufacturing (Minnesota-02)
$16,787,272 for canned pork (Wisconsin-06)
$351,807 for a upgraded dumbwaiter (New York-18)

The USDA is ostensibly saying that the above food is for the needy. I'm not sure I believe that. And the VA needs a new $350,000 dumbwaiter?

Is it 2012 yet?

no

The Governors, both Democrats and Republicans, don't want Obamacare.

Schwarzenegger, Palin, Jindal and Pawlenty weren't even in attendance at the National Governor's Association meeting this weekend in Biloxi, Mississippi, still, there is no appetite for the Congressional health care plan.

a heartbeat away

From the mouth of Vice President Joe Biden: "We have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt."
“Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, that's what I’m telling you.”
How can this man be so dumb? How can he be Vice President? Filling Cheney's shoes was always going to be next to impossible, but...This is just a bad dream. Is it 2012 yet?

So much for the keeping individual private insurance crap.

Under Obamacare, it's illegal.

cap-and-tax

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wrote a great opinion piece yesterday in WaPo in which she rightly claimed that Obama's cap-and-tax plan will have one 'ironic beauty: It will teach Liberals about supply side economics.
"Job losses are so certain under this new cap-and-tax plan that it includes a provision accommodating newly unemployed workers from the resulting dried-up energy sector, to the tune of $4.2 billion over eight years. So much for creating jobs.

"Even Warren Buffett, an ardent Obama supporter, admitted that under the cap-and-tax scheme, "poor people are going to pay a lot more for electricity."

"We must move in a new direction."
What a shame that over the years, cowardly American politicians, both Republicans and Democrats, have allowed themselves to be bullied and intimidated by these stupid environmental crazies to the extent that we cannot utilize our own natural resources. Our government has failed us.

There is no excuse for America being energy dependent on other countries.

jimmy obama

President Bush stopped the banks from crashing with TARP.

But what is President Obama doing to fix the economy, except saying recently that "he never envisioned that his stimulus package would afford quick relief to the American economy, but would do so only after it had run its two-year course."

And what about "creating or saving 600,000 jobs"? The White House doesn't talk about that anymore. Wonder why.

Obama is the new Carter and this is the new malaise.

sad but true

Senator Franken and Sotomayor are talking about Perry Mason. Am I watching the TV Guide channel?

the flowchart from hell

Obama is telling people 'not to be fooled' by those of us who oppose government run health care. The truth is, Obama is fooling Americans into believing health care reform is necessary.

Republicans created the above flowchart illustrating that Obamacare will, in fact, be a big competition-killing, innovation-sucking, job-eliminating, ration-giving, slow-moving bureaucracy.

Of course, Democrats suddenly believe in market competition. The party of racial quotas and affirmative action now wants private insurance companies to compete against the federal government in the health care arena. (Funny, right?)

Problem is, the private companies would have to make a profit to succeed. Not so for the government run enterprise. And there's the rub on the entire Democrats' plan. The private companies will go out of business because of a lack of revenue and the government ends up running the entire health care system.

You'd be a fool to support the plan the Democrats are putting forward. Call your Represenative. Call your Senator. Tell them to vote a big Hell No on health care reform.

surtax

http://img.wonkette.com/assets/resources/2008/02/rangel.jpg

Charlie Rangel, (D-NY) and the other dim-witted Democrats are doing a great job killing the economy. Higher taxes are coming and millionaires are going to have to pay a 5.4% surtax.

The rich already pay the lion's share of taxes. Why should they have to pay even more? Why not cut taxes for everyone?

Hope and change, baby!

obama's ignorance

Liz Cheney gets it absolutely right about the Cold War and Obama's seeming ignorance of recent American history.

To the revisionist historian Obama, the Cold War was nothing more than a competition between two countries, a competition that suddenly ended because the Soviets didn't want to play anymore.

According to Obama, the fall of communism, the reunification of Germany, the fall of the Berlin Wall, had nothing to do with "any one nation."

In truth, the Soviets brutalized their people. There were no freedoms, instead there were Gulags for those who disagreed with the regime. The Cold War ended because of the "forces of freedom and the commitment of free nations to defend liberty and defeat Communism." And, in truth, it was America and President Reagan who led the way in tearing down Communism.
"It is irresponsible for an American president to go to Moscow and tell a room full of young Russians less than the truth about how the Cold War ended. One wonders whether this was just an attempt to push "reset" -- or maybe to curry favor. Perhaps, most concerning of all, Mr. Obama believes what he said.

"Mr. Obama's method for pushing reset around the world is becoming clearer with each foreign trip. He proclaims moral equivalence between the U.S. and our adversaries, he readily accepts a false historical narrative, and he refuses to stand up against anti-American lies."

The illogical moral equilvalence arguments of the American Left are striking when seen in all of their naked glory, isn't it? And people thought Bush was stupid? The intellectually superior Bush makes Obama look like a sixth grader who got a D- on his term paper.

A growing number of people are holding onto the 'hope' that the era of Obama will be short and that Republican 'change' is coming in 2010 and 2012.

meaning of the constitution

Georgetown law professor Randy Barnett has a thought: During confirmation hearings for Supreme Court justices instead of the questions and answers focusing on specific cases why not ask for clarification as to the meanings of clauses of the Constitution?
"Supreme Court confirmation hearings do not have to be about either results or nothing. They could be about clauses, not cases. Instead of asking nominees how they would decide particular cases, ask them to explain what they think the various clauses of the Constitution mean.

"Don't ask how the meaning of these clauses should be applied in particular circumstances. Just ask about the meaning itself and how it should be ascertained. Do nominees think they are bound by the original public meaning of the text?"
Of course, this is too logical, too sensible. It won't happen, but it should. But it also mean that the Senators on the Judiciary would have to know something about the Constitution. That would certainly put Senator Franken behind a steep learning curve, wouldn't it?

What if Sotomayor had to answer specific questions about the clauses of the Constitution, rather than just reciting prepared text verbatim? Would she be automatically confirmed?

uninspiring and dishonest

Photo

The dog and pony show going on this week on Capitol Hill is ridiculous. Leahy, Sessions, Graham and the other blabbermouths spoke yesterday for five hours BEFORE Judge Sotomayor said a single word.

Also ridiculous, her so-called 'reasoning' behind her now infamous 'wise Latina' remark. She wanted to 'inspire' women and Latinos to seek legal careers. How do you 'inspire' one group by tearing another group or groups down?

Why doesn't Judge Sotomayor just say, 'Hey, I'm for quotas. I don't care about the merits of cases, take a look at my record. Take a look at the New Haven fire fighters case just over-turned by the Supreme Court. I believe Latinos and blacks should get jobs before white people, regardless of their qualifications.'

At least that would be honest. Everybody knows she's another Ginsburg. Why deny it?

tracking the data

Financial wizard Mort Zuckerman says "The Economy Is Even Worse Than You Think."

The average length of unemployment is higher today than anytime since 1948 and this is the only recession since the Great Depression to kill all the job growth from the previous expansion.

Cut taxes.

genius

http://www.sanfranciscosentinel.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/willie-brown.jpg

Old Democrats are way smarter than younger ones. Hence, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown GETS Governor Sarah Palin.
"What a lot of people don't know is that Palin entered Alaska politics as a reformer attacking the corruption of the state's Republican establishment. As such, she was the darling of the Democrats - until she hooked up with McCain.

"After the election, with Palin back home but positioning herself for a 2012 presidential run, it was clear she would catch nothing but ridicule from Alaska's Democrats. It was not going to be pretty.

"If Palin wants to play on the national field, she has to be free to move around. She has to be able to drop into Indiana, Ohio or Tennessee and help Republican candidates raise money. She has to be available for radio and TV."

Which is why her resignation was such genius. Maybe.

There has been such atrocious reporting on Sarahcuda, big kudos to Brown on selling it straight.

activist judge

Judge Sonia Sotomayor has been meeting with lawmakers in advance of her confirmation hearings.

Sotomayor is 'the most qualified Supreme Court nominee in 100 years'? Senator Franken (D-MN) is telling a joke, right?

Bork, Thomas, Roberts, Alito? All chumps? Obviously, since we know that only a 'wise Latina' can mete out the correct type of justice.

damn!

Hey, look at BO, checking out some Italian booty. Classy. Embarrassing us again, Barack?

BTW, Sarkozy's expression is priceless.

an illegitimate opinion

Peggy Noonan really sounds stupid now because she endorsed Barack Obama for President.

This woman, for whom I once had great respect, so misinterprets Sarah Palin, she denigrates her.
"Her (Palin's) lack of any appropriate modesty did her in."

"She hurts the Republican brand, with her mess and her rhetorical jabberwocky and her careless causing of division. Really, she is the most careless sower of discord since George
W. Bush."

"She makes the party look stupid, a party of the easily manipulated."

"She is a complete elite confection. She might as well have been a bonbon."
It would be relatively easy to say that the MSM made both Bush and Palin sound stupid, when neither clearly were/are. It was a concerted effort. Noonan obviously is ignorant for not knowing this.

And on that point, Noonan is easily discredited. First term, she loved Bush. Second term inauguration, she took issue, in fact, she took personal Reagan-umbrage to Bush's rhetoric. After that, it was the end of the Bush love affair and the beginning of the shift to 24/7 Liberal Manhattan dinner parties.

Noonan's political snobbery is as illegitimate as Colin Powell's political racism. And both are pieces of human crap.

One wonders why Noonan is considered as 'smart' as she is, with her airheaded commentary and her breathless, long-winded analysis. A former Reagan speechwriter, Noonan, for reasons unknown, has extreme hatred (or jealousy) toward the next Reagan.

FYI, I now consider Noonan an enemy to the Republic. And I will, from now on, act accordingly.

more polls

Quinnipiac has Obama's 'lackluster' polling numbers in Ohio.

The President has also fallen below 50% in Virginia.

Love that 'hope' and 'change!!

pulling a barney

Barney Frank wants to funnel TARP 'profits' to ACORN?

That assumes the government has been re-paid all the TARP money. That hasn't happened.

And why the hell does ACORN need more money? Obama already gave them $5 billion.

great fabrications

John Boehner gives a speech.

Of course, Biden is lying about the economy. Biden IS a liar. He's a serial fabricator.

This crap about them not knowing how bad the economy was in January? Laughable. Next, I suppose the Veep will claim they weren't briefed?

It's good to see House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) pounding on this. Go GOP! Fight back!! Show some balls!!!

32% strongly approve

Six months in just 32% voters 'strongly approve' of Obama?
(hell, Bush only went that low after eight years)
TARP2 opposed by whopping 60% of Americans.
48%
disapprove of Obama.
Consumer confidence has fallen to lowest level in two months.
56% say no to more taxes to combat the myth called global warming.
52% say keeping energy costs low more important than going green.
The GOP leads on the generic ballot.

cyber terrorism

In the past, I've refrained from blogging about cyber-terrorism for reasons of national security. Clearly the cat is out of the bag now, with what looks to be a significant attack from North Korea.

The NSA, Homeland Security, White House, State Department, the Treasury Department, NASDAQ and NYSE websites were all hit last weekend.

It's inconceivable to me that protective measures haven't been boosted at every step along the way of America's digital infrastructure. Of course, that does require a certain amount of forward thinking, a skill-set governments lack.

The governments of Clinton and Bush pretty much sucked on cyber terrorism. If Obama can secure America's vital online assets, it will be a huge and important achievement and I will praise him for it.

russia wins

Reducing our better, newer, more advanced nuclear stockpile so that Russia doesn't have to build new nukes? How nice of us.

And what is the purpose of ignoring Georgia and Ukraine? Why deny two US allies a Presidential visit? Is it all about sucking up to Putin so that Obama can finally claim a foreign policy 'victory'?

They already know we're not a threat, so they have nothing to fear. Great diplomacy, President Obama.

Now off to Italy and the G8.

hating sarah palin

NRO's David Kahane plays Devil's Advocate in what I think is the best political opinion piece ever about the current state of Republican Party politics.
"Stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.

"If you had any sense, you would start using our tactics against us. After all, you have a few lawyers on your side. Sue us. File frivolous ethics complaints against all our elected officials until, like Sarah, they go broke from defending themselves. (David Paterson would be a good place to start.) Challenge the constitutionality of BO2’s legion of fill-in-the-blank czars — none of whom have to be confirmed, or even pass a security check. (Come to think of it, neither did Barry.) Let slip your own journalistic dogs of war, assuming you have any, to find Barry’s birth certificate, his college transcripts, whether he applied to Occidental as a foreign student, and on which passport he traveled in 1981 to Pakistan with his friend Wahid Hamid, for starters.

"You might also want to think about interviewing New York literary agent Jane Dystel, who a) contacted the totally unknown Obama in the wake of an adulatory New York Times piece in 1990 and b) got him a $125,000 advance for a memoir that c) he couldn’t write, even after a long sojourn in Bali, which d) got the contract canceled, whereupon e) Dystel got him $40,000 from another publisher, following which f) the book finally came out to glowing reviews and g) Obama fired her. Wouldn’t she have an interesting story to tell?

"Of course, you won’t. You’re too nice, too enamored of history and tradition to realize that the rules have changed. Remember, I live and work in a town where, “Hello, he lied,” isn’t a joke; we men of the Left are perfectly comfortable lying, cheating, and stealing — hello, Senator Franken! — in order to attain and keep political power. Not for nothing is one of our mottos, “By Any Means Necessary.” You see, we’re the good guys, and for us the ends always justify the means. We are, literally, shameless, which is why Bill Clinton is now a multi-millionaire and Eliot Spitzer is already on the comeback trail.

"In Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, “the fourth rule is: Make the enemy live up to their own book of rules. This is the book that “Reset” Rodham (what ever happened to her?) and BHO II grew up reading and continue to live by. If you don’t understand that that’s the way we see you — as the enemy — then you’re too dumb to survive. Remember that for us politics is not just an avocation, or even just a job, but our life. We literally stay awake nights thinking up ways to screw you. And one of the ways we do that is by religiously observing Alinsky’s Rule No. 4.

"Did Sarah stand for “family values”? Flay her unwed-mother daughter. Did she represent probity in a notoriously corrupt, one-family state? Spread rumors about FBI investigations. Did she speak with an upper-Midwest twang? Mock it relentlessly on Saturday Night Live. Above all, don’t let her motivate the half of the country that doesn’t want His Serene Highness to bankrupt the nation, align with banana-republic Communist dictators, unilaterally dismantle our missile defenses, and set foot in more mosques than churches since he has become president. We’ve got a suicide cult to run here.

"And that’s why Sarah had to go. Whether she understood it or not, she threatened us right down to our most fundamental, meretricious, elitist, sneering, snobbish, insecure, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders bones. She was, after all, a “normal” American, the kind of person (or so I’m told) you meet in flyover country. The kind that worries first about home and hearth and believes in things like motherhood and love of country the way it is, not the way she wants to remake it. "

Yes, the MSM's "Hating Sarah Palin Tour" has been an orchestrated, organized, non-stop, eight month long endeavor. They eviscerated her, turned her life upside down, attacked her children, her husband, her family, her politics, her education, her religion. They even made it impossible for her to do her job.

selling out

As I read about what Obama has negotiated today with the Russians, I'm struck yet again by another abject failure by an American president, like Democrats Carter and Clinton before him, to do what is necessary to protect the national security of the United States.

the presidential look?

What's going on here? Arriving in Russia, the Obama's look like a regular couple on vacation, schlepping along with their crap. And what the hell is Michelle wearing? Is she going to bake cookies?

This is not how American heads of state should look and certainly not how they should carry themselves. It reminds me of Jimmy Carter wearing sweaters back in the '70s. Very embarrassing and unbecoming.

Embarrassing and unbecoming too is the fact that Obama is in Moscow to negotiate an arms treaty, while Russia continues to carry out military operations against Georgia, their former satellite neighbor to the South.

Carter, Clinton, now Obama, so-called 'Democratic' American presidents who turn blind eyes to suffering of others. Obama looks as if he wants to return Russia to super-power status. I'm glad he 'trusts Medvedev,' but I don't.

oops

**FILE** In this photo provided by CBS News, former Secretary of State General Colin Powell appears on the CBS talk show "Face the Nation" on Sunday in Washington. (Associated Press/CBS News, Karin Cooper)

Colin "Affirmative Action" Powell, is suddenly 'concerned' about the Obama agenda?
"I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them."
Where was this type of analysis last November? Instead of stupidly voting for the unqualified, half-black Obama, Powell should just admit that he made a mistake in not voting for McCain-Palin.

resignation

http://www.popandpolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/sarah-palin-1.jpg

A strange and unexpected decision by Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to resign today, effective July 26. Obviously, she's weary of the scurrilous attacks. The reporting by the MSM has been atrocious. The Democrats just never quit. They toss the slime and innuendo until people just walk away, tired and frustrated.

Palin is the embodiment of the modern, liberated woman. If she were a pro-choice Democrat, the MSM would be celebrating her coast to coast. There would be Palin magazine covers, huge, fawning exposes, hours of airtime on the cable shows donated to her accomplishments, her brilliance, her genius. She would have been crowned Queen. (as the MSM crowned Obama King last year) Alas, as Governor Palin found out, Conservatives get an entirely different type of media coverage.

On the one hand, by resigning, Sarah is giving up the forum, the powerful platform from which I expected her to launch a national career. On the other hand, she's selflessly allowing the business of her state to move forward, unabated. Now she will be free to travel, to speak, to campaign and raise money for candidates, as Mitt Romney is already doing and to elevate her profile ahead of 2012. All good things.

She might also very well be throwing in the towel on a political career, thinking it just ain't worth it, but I hope not. I think Sarah Palin is an incredible individual who did an amazing job as the Governor of a very different and diverse state. I think she is a person of the highest caliber, a woman of almost limitless talent and intelligence.

Stay tuned...

[Travel]
Turncoat Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA) took his wife and an legislative aide on an 11 day New Year's vacation. Specter reported that the trip cost $2,800 but the true cost was $70,000+ when you factor in the cost of military air travel. Conveniently, they always manage to leave that expense out.

Rep. Ike Shelton (D-MO) and 10 other members of Congress traveled to Hawaii, Guam, Japan, South Korea at a reported cost of $465 each. (Military air travel omitted.)

Rep. Stephen Lynch, (D-MA) along with a large delegation, flew to Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Hungry for five days at a reported cost of $254 each. (Military air travel omitted.)

Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) has introduced legislation that would require the disclosure of the use of military air travel. So far only Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) is willing to co-sponsor the bill.

I thought our lord and savior Obama was going to fix the economy?

Unemployment is 9.5%, the highest since 1983. In June alone, 467,000 jobs were lost. The economy has shed 6.5 million jobs since December 2007. (Note: Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007)

The new Obama economic plan is to tell us things are getting better now, back load the stimulus money to 2010 and 2011, improve the economy just in time to extend their Congressional Majority and set the table for a big Obama re-election push in 2012.

swelling expenses

Alabama Gov. Bob Riley (left) and Sen. Richard Shelby in June on a river cruise in Paris, where U.S. politicians met with defense-industry executives.

This article from the WSJ about increased Congressional travel really got my blood boiling this morning. American taxpayers (that would be you and me) pay for these lavish trips, yet there's absolutely zero accountability.

Why was it necessary for Alabama Governor Bob Riley and Senator Richard Shelby, (above, both Republicans) to go to France? Were they conducting official state business? Doubtful. Were they on vacation? Most definitely.

Rep Bud Cramer (R-AL), before retiring from Congress, spent two weeks in Europe on 'government business,' racking up $5,700 in expenses. Nice vacation, courtesy of the taxpayers.

Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-HI), six other Senators and their spouses attended the Paris Air Show and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel where rooms cost $460 per night. Btw, Flying to France and back on a Boeing 737 costs $5,700 an hour to operate.

[I'm sensing a trend. Why does everything seem to cost $5,700? Expense report conspiracy?]

Why was it important for Rep. Brian Baird (D-WA) to go to the Galápagos Islands to study global warming with his wife, four other members of Congress and their family members? Was this official business? I'd like to know what Baird learned about climate change. They spent $22,000 on meals and lodging, took boat tours to see sea-lions and white-tipped sharks? Sounds like a vacation to me.

How great would it be to go on a trip and not have to pay for anything? Our politicians get a free ride at our expense. This is outrageous.

afghanistan

Afghan President Hamid Karzai: US troops launch major Afghanistan offensive

Operation Khanjar ("Strike of the Sword") will push back against Taliban control of Helmand province in Southern Afghanistan, ahead of elections next month.

This is said to be the largest US Marine helicopter landing since Vietnam, some 4,000 Marines. Cool.

Karl Malden Picture Gallery

I grew up loving "The Streets of San Francisco." One of the best shows ever on television.

Karl Malden, the amazing actor with the incredible career, died today at the ripe old age of 97. Godspeed.

helen & chip

Funny stuff. Chip Reid and Helen Thomas hammering and pounding Bob Gibbs about "pre-packaged, tightly controlled" questions for Obama.

Maybe journalism is making a comeback.

nope

The Honduran government, ignoring pressure from Obama and Chavez, is saying that there is "no chance at all" that Zelaya will be allowed to return to power.

'crazy banners'

Obama doesn't know how easy he's got it with regard to Iraq.

He should be thanking President Bush, not trashing him.

'too liberal'

vvvp3cnr_u2sc6yfdus2gq

A new Gallup poll finds that a 'statistically significant increase' of Americans believe the so-called 'Democratic' party is too Liberal. Since last year, the percentage has risen from 39% to 46%, the largest since the Democrats lost Congress in 1994.

And this is after the Left has controlled Congress for just 2 1/2 years? Obama's only been in office for six months? Hmmm.

So much for that bullcrap about Obama's mandate and America becoming a center-Left country.

It's just untrue. Like everything else the slimeball Democrats say.

thugs & dictators

Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya -- the guy who wanted to change the law so that he could name himself a dictator -- has won United Nations support.

There the UN goes again, propping up thugs and dictators. What a great humanitarian organization.

He sounds obsessed. After reading Todd Purdum's piece on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for Vanity Fair you have to be left with that impression.

The Left is scared to death of her, which is why they continue to trash her. That's what Liberals do.
