summer of discontent

Fouad Ajami has written the best piece I've read so far about Obama.
"Obama [rode the economic distress of 2008 to victory.] His politics of charisma was reminiscent of the Third World. A leader steps forth, better yet someone with no discernible trail, someone hard to pin down to a specific political program, and the crowd could read into him what it wished, what it needed."
BO has been described as being the modern embodiment of Lincoln, FDR, JFK, even Reagan, but he's none of those things. He's just a guy with a Blackberry who opposed the war in Iraq.
"At no time had Ronald Reagan believed that the American covenant had failed, that America should apologize for itself in the world beyond its shores. There was no narcissism in Reagan. It was stirring that the man who headed into the sunset of his life would bid his country farewell by reminding it that its best days were yet to come.
"There is joylessness in Mr. Obama. He is a scold, the "Yes we can!" mantra is shallow, and at any rate, it is about the coming to power of a man, and a political class, invested in its own sense of smarts and wisdom, and its right to alter the social contract of the land. In this view, the country had lost its way and the new leader and the political class arrayed around him will bring it back to the right path.

"Thus the moment of crisis would become an opportunity to push through a political economy of redistribution and a foreign policy of American penance."
But then the cracks in the facade began to appear, faster than Axelrod and Emanuel anticipated. The American people got fooled into voting for Obama because of John McCain, but after eight long months of failed Saul Alinsky policies, Americans now realize the emptiness of 'hope' and 'change.'
"The protesters in those town-hall meetings have served notice that Mr. Obama’s charismatic moment has passed. Once again, the belief in that American exception that set this nation apart from other lands is re-emerging. Health care is the tip of the iceberg. Beneath it is an unease with the way the verdict of the 2008 election was read by those who prevailed. It shall be seen whether the man swept into office in the moment of national panic will adjust to the nation’s recovery of its self-confidence."

hiding income & assets

SOLD! Chief tax-writer Charles Rangel racked up a tidy profit on this Harlem house, but initially neglected to report it.

How do you forget to report $1.3 million of income on your taxes? Charlie Rangel (D-NY) did. How do you forget to include the $1 million sale of the above Harlem building on your financial disclosure forms from 2002-2006? How does that happen?

It's happens because you're a lying, dirtball, scumbag Democrat. I know the ethics rules in Congress "only require the Members to report their finances within broad ranges," but Rangel actively and knowingly, "hid income and assets."

1rangel0713

Rangel's not some hack member of the House, either. No, he's the Chairman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee. He's the guy "working diligently to increase tax rates to pay for President Obama's health-care plan."

But he's also the guy who "lost track" and failed to report a $500,000 federal credit union checking account. Rangel is the guy who "overlooked" and failed to report his own investment accounts at JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch, Oppenheimer and BlackRock.

What about the property Rangel owns in New Jersey? He failed to report that too, just like he forgot to pay property taxes on two of his lots.

The Congressional Democrats have a lock on corruption. They own it. They are liars and crooks and thieves, the worst type of human scum on the face of planet. Don't let anybody tell you differently.

s.773

Saul Alinsky, I mean, Barack Obama might soon have the power to take 'emergency control' over the Internet, under a proposed Senate bill S.773, which was proposed in April.

S.773, sponsored by Jay Rockefeller, (D-WV) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) would give the President the authority to "declare cybersecurity emergencies," and to take defensive precautions against cyberwarfare waged against us by Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, Muslim extremists and others.
"We must protect our critical infrastructure at all costs--from our water to our electricity, to banking, traffic lights and electronic health records," Rockefeller said.
Nobody disagrees with that. But the bill goes further, relating to "non-governmental" computer networks. So, theoretically, Obama could take down my blog because he doesn't like my opinions.

The truth is, the Obama administration is exactly what the Left accused the Bush administration of being: Big Brother.
"I think the redraft, while improved, remains troubling due to its vagueness," said Larry Clinton, president of the Internet Security Alliance, which counts representatives of Verizon, Verisign, Nortel, and Carnegie Mellon University on its board. "It is unclear what authority Sen. Rockefeller thinks is necessary over the private sector. Unless this is clarified, we cannot properly analyze, let alone support the bill."
The Alinsky/Obama/Emanuel/Reid/Pelosi Democrats are all about seizing power and controlling our lives. Is this another "never let a crisis go to waste," moment?

'a break from his vacation'

Burton defends new vacation

President Bush caught holy hell for taking August off. Remember that? As if the President of the United States is ever really off-the-clock.

Yet everybody's strangely silent about Obama's vacation in New England this week and now his aides are even talking about BO ditching work next week too, hanging out @ Camp David.

Yes, Martha's Vineyard has been so stressful and taxing, he needs more time off. Again, as if POTUS is ever really off the clock.

The difference? With Obama, the press doesn't care. Our little Barry can do whatever the hell he wants. He's beyond criticism.

blatant media bias

ABC and NBC have refused to air an anti-ObamaCare commercial.

The spot, from the League of American Voters, features a neurosurgeon warning that government-run health care will lead to the rationing of procedures and medicine,

The commercial began airing two weeks ago on local ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS affiliates around the country, but ABC and NBC have refused to run the ad nationally.

Nice bias. Especially on the part of ABC News which dedicated an hour of it's air to an uninterrupted White House "Conversation on Health" special in June.

crass, no class

Senator Kennedy's coffin

Exploiting Teddy? Nah. Why would anyone think that? Crazy.

Remember the Wellstone Memorial?

obamacare/socialized medicine

If you support government-run health care in any form, you are simply ignorant of the frequent failures of socialized medicine and how such systems work.

Government-run health care in Britain results in elderly people being left in pain, ignored in soiled bed clothes, denied adequate food and drink, and suffering from repeatedly canceled operations, missed diagnoses and dismissive staff. Twelve hundred people have died from substandard emergency care in the past six years.

Under the Obamacare plan, the government makes public your private IRS tax information.

That means your filing status, your modified adjusted gross income, your number of dependents, and "other information as is prescribed by" regulation, will be given to the new Health Choices Commissioner and state health programs and used to determine who qualifies for "affordability credits." And, there's no specified limit on what's available or unavailable.

Ironic, isn't it, that the political party that claimed to be so concerned about civil liberties under the previous administration is now trying to ram this big violation of civil liberties down America's throat?

blowing smoke

CIA interrogators can't even smoke into the faces of terrorist prisoners because it's an "unauthorized, undocumented technique."

What is happening to our great country? What has happened to us that we think we shouldn't do everything in our power to protect ourselves?

And what should we say and think about the leaders taking us down this primrose path?

blatant media bias

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan got TONS of coverage when Bush was President. Remember her camping outside W's Crawford, TX ranch with celebrities? The MSM couldn't get enough of it. She was a hero to millions.

Obama is on vacation this week in Martha's Vineyard and Cindy, still a war protester, is there too, this time sans celebrities. And the media doesn't care anymore. She's apparently a hero no more.

Kudos to her for being consistent in her criticism.

obviously

This headline is better than coffee: "Obama Can No Longer Pass the Buck on Economy."

Of course, makes perfect sense. With all the things he's done in eight months since becoming our 44th President, Barack Obama owns this economy. Only idiots, incompetents would disagree with such logic.

Although this headline, "The War on Terror Is Over," makes me want to trade my coffee for something a bit stronger.

Liberals scoff at the notion that Obama is weakening national security, but only the truly naive among us believe that interrogating terrorism suspects with "non-coercive" Army Field Manual tactics will yield real-time, actionable intelligence necessary to save American lives and prevent future 9/11-scale attacks.

chappaquiddick

Edward "Ted" Kennedy of Massachusetts served in the U.S. Senate for 47 years.

This was the real Teddy Kennedy.

Spinmeisters saved him from himself and with soft media coverage and an adoring liberal Massachusetts constituency, his political career flourished.

We'll continue to hear amplified accounts about the life and times of 'The Lion of the US Senate,' but it's important to remember the entire story.

'lives have been saved as a result...'

Mark Theissen writes about the possible prosecution of CIA officials by the Obama administration.

"Attorney General Eric Holder, a political appointee, is overruling the decisions of career Justice Department officials and appointing a special prosecutor. If the Bush administration had done the same thing to its predecessor, the mainstream media would be howling.

"The decision to prosecute will have a devastating effect on the intelligence community—pushing the agency back into a risk-averse, pre-Sept. 11, 2001, mentality. Indeed, the IG report itself indicates that agency officials knew this day was coming. "One officer expressed concern that one day, Agency officers will wind up on some 'wanted list' to appear before the World Court. . . . Another said, 'Ten years from now, we're going to be sorry we're doing this . . . [but] it has to be done.'"

"He was right. It had to be done. According to the IG report, "Khalid Sheykh Mohammed, an accomplished resistor, provided only a few intelligence reports prior to the use of the waterboard, and analysis of that information revealed that much of it was outdated, inaccurate, or incomplete." After undergoing the waterboard, however, KSM became "the most prolific" of the detainees in CIA custody. "He provided information that helped lead to the arrests of terrorists including Sayfullah Paracha and his son Uzair Paracha, businessmen whom [KSM] planned to use to smuggle explosives into the United States; Saleh Almari, a sleeper operative in New York; and Majid Khan, an operative who could enter the United States easily and was tasked to research attacks [REDACTED]." Other plots the agency did not know about before KSM and other detainees told them, according to the inspector general, were "plans to [REDACTED]; attack the U.S. Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan; hijack aircraft to fly into Heathrow Airport . . . [and] hijack and fly an airplane into the tallest building in California in a west coast version of the World Trade Center attack. . . ."

"The IG report states that it did not uncover evidence these plots were "imminent," but it also reports that, "Agency senior managers believe that lives have been saved as a result of the capture and interrogation of terrorists who were planning attacks."

more obama bull****

President Obama is so committed to fixing the US economy that he's sending $250 stimulus checks to convicted felons as part of the boondoggle $787 stimulus package.

From the Boston Herald:
"President Obama’s $787 billion stimulus bill has done more to help convicted criminals than it has to actually boost our economy and create jobs,” said Republican National Committee spokeswoman Sara Sendek.

"The Inspector General of Social Security is now tracing the checks that were mailed to 3,900 prisoners at a cost of nearly $1 million after yesterday’s report in the Herald.

"Social Security Administration spokesman Stephen Richardson said yesterday none of the prisoner recipients receive monthly Social Security benefits, meaning they should not qualify for a stimulus check. Such benefits are generally cut off to the incarcerated."

In the UK last year, some 4,000 women were forced to give birth to their babies in unsanitary places like elevators, hallways and bathrooms, because of a shortage of hospital beds.

A pregnant British woman in labor was refused an ambulance ride, told to walk to the hospital.

This is the kind of stuff ObamaCare will produce here in America.

You have to wonder why Obama seeks, and is actively working toward, the destruction of the United States as we know it.

I never agreed with Teddy Kennedy on anything, but his family has my heartfelt sympathy.

more obama bull****

I rolled my eyes when Obama appointed Leon Panetta as Director of the CIA, but I have a new respect for the man after all the crap he's had to deal with from his own idiotic party these past eight months.

Nobody at the White House takes his advice, Pelosi lies about his people and now Eric Holder is trying to make certain that no foreign intelligence service will ever cooperate with America again.

Dangerous stuff. At least Panetta has proven himself to be a decent guy.

obama's bull****

They were wrong about the deficit.
They were wrong about unemployment.
They were wrong about the stimulus.
They said they weren't about the past, they were looking forward.

Another lie. None of this stuff was true. Nothing Obama says is true.

And they are STILL playing politics with America's national security.

'your life, your choices'

Oh, sure, NOW they removed it.

ObamaCare is all about rationing and denying care for the elderly.

'aggressively, relentlessly oppose'

Oh, sure, the GOP is fighting back against Obama's socialist policies now, but where was their courage of convictions back when they sat on their hands and voted to confirm the soft-on-crime racist Eric Holder as Attorney General back in February?

Obama's Justice Department has refused to go after the Black Panthers, who were completely guilty of taunting and intimidation tactics on Election Day 2008 in Philadelphia. One of the three guilty Panthers, Jerry Jackson, is a credentialed Philadelphia 'Democratic' poll worker.

The Bush Justice Department filed suit against Jackson, Malik Shabazz and Samir Shabazz in January. The three ignored the lawsuit, which automatically put Justice into a default, or, winning, position.

Holder dismissed the suit. It's unheard of for Justice to dismiss a case it won by default. But this is how 'justice' is administered in the Obama DOJ. It's all about skin color.

Look what 'Justice' has done in Georgia, clearing the way for rampant voter fraud, allowing non-citizens to register to vote. ACORN will have a field day with that.

The Republicans had better start fighting back harder.

Apparently, "the thrill is gone for Obama and the media," although you'd never know it by reading this hyperventilating, adulating piece from Newsday.

Do you think Barry cheats at golf like Clinton?

job #1

[The Central Intelligence Agency logo in the lobby of the agency's headquarters in Langley, Va.]

Nothing could be more important than the national security of the United States of America. Your safety, your families' safety, my family, depends on our government doing the never-ending job of protecting our shores from radicals who wish to kill and destroy our way of life.

That means sometimes doing bad things. I know and understand that our government, in the name of national security, has to do some really outlandishly terrible things from time to time. I just accept that. In fact, I'm totally okay with that. Are you?

You're not naive enough to miss the correlation between Obama's tumbling poll numbers, his crappy, unpopular policies and these newly declassified CIA documents today, are you?

It's patently clear and obvious, this effort by the White House to change the subject away from ObamaCare just so that BO can fire up his Daily Kos base by resurrecting the torture issue, with a special prosecutor. Oh, yeah, Bush was so bad, he was the worst president ever, but he protected the country. Will Obama? That's the question.

Do I give a damn about a threat to kill Khalid Sheik Mohammed's children? No, I do not. Did KSM give a damn about killing 2,996 people on 9/11? No, he did not.

Did the Bush/Cheney-era tactics work? Yes. Have we been attacked again after 9/11? No, which means the tactics worked, which is all I care about.

If you disagree with that, you have a problem. If you disagree with the successful counter-terrorism tactics that have protected us from wacko Muslims, you aren't very smart.

Obama, we now know, has created a "new, special terrorism-era interrogation unit," that will be overseen by the White House. Wow, that makes me safe. A political/counter-terrorism unit run from the Oval Office, by a guy who has a problem using the term 'victory.'

Kennedy

Why are the Democrats always trying to change the rules?

In 2004, Ted Kennedy was worried that the then Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney would name a Republican successor to John Kerry's Senate seat if Kerry had won the presidency, (sorry you can't hear my hearty laughter) so, he used his considerable pull and changed the rules, mandating a special election 145 days after the seat would become vacant.

Now that the Democrats have a a 60 seat, filibuster proof Majority in the Senate Kennedy wants to change those same rules so that his seat can be quickly filled in the event of his death.

Blatant hypocrisy.

not so progressive

I cited this excellent piece yesterday, but I want to highlight Dr. Ronald Dworkin's perfectly succinct description of the American health care system.
"Progressives fail to grasp the genius of the American health-care system: It unites rich and poor in a common private insurance system.

"Here's how it works. When a rich person rolls into the operating room, the nurse asks him: "Would you like a warm blanket? How about a pillow?" The anesthesiologist numbs his skin before putting in the I.V. Every effort is made to make him happy.

"People in the operating room pay attention to a rich patient's wishes because they know a rich person can make their lives miserable. He can complain to the hospital president, or call the mayor. But the side effect is that their high quality care becomes habitual, and all patients receive it. When a poor person complains in most environments, no one listens. But in health care, through a common private insurance system, poor people go to the same hospitals and doctors as rich people and thus enjoy the benefit of rich people's power.

"The public option severs this link. Dissatisfied with government-run health care, the rich will exit the system. The poor and middle-class will be left to flounder alone inside the public system. Government-run health care will become like the public schools."

ObamaCare, with a public option or with Co-ops, may be hailed as progressive thinking, but it is only progressively stupid, failing to consider the real consequences of 'change.'

dirty bird

David Axelrod, founder

Obama's brain, the highly unethical David Axelrod, above, is profiting from his lofty position.

Axelrod left as principal of his Chicago advertising/media firm AKPD Message & Media to work in the White House, but now AKPD and another Chicago consultancy, GMMB Campaign Group, are both profiting from Obama's health care reform push by crafting health insurance reform advertising.

The connection? The firms did 2008 Obama campaign advertising to a combined profit of $343 million. Btw, Axelrod's son currently works at AKPD, a clear conflict.

Imagine if Karl Rove had these types of conflicts? The media would have had a collective seizure.

Barack Obama is resurrecting Conservatism. And the MSM refuses to report on it.

Gallup has concluded in a new poll that there are more Conservatives than Liberals in America.

Yep, Conservatives outnumber Liberals in all 50 states, even in uber-wacked out places like California, Massachusetts and Vermont.

A blaze rages in a parking lot in front of the Ministry after the attacks
The Democrats have verbally screwed us in Iraq since 2004. Now they have truly lost the war for us. Was everything in vain?

I don't understand why people like Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Clinton are so naive. Democrats are cowards, afraid to fight, afraid to commit to anything meaningful.

Democrats and Liberals talk of supporting freedom and fairness, yet they cower in the corner when it matters, always making the wrong decisions for America. How pathetic.

socialized medicine sucks

Michael Vujovich, 61, of Windsor says he is alive because the Ontario government has arrangements with Henry Ford Hospital to perform heart procedures (MANDI WRIGHT/Detroit Free Press)

What's this? Canadians coming to the United States for high quality health care? Are you kidding me? I thought Canada was the freaking model of health care superiority and efficiency?

No, the fact is, the Canadian health care system is imploding under its own weight. The former President of the Canadian Medical Association, Brian Day is my go-t0 guy on all things medically Canadian.

But I digress. It turns out that the Ontario government has a deal with Henry Ford Hospital to treat Canadian citizens. I give them big kudos to them for making the arrangements, but shouldn't this be a big red flag to America and her citizens?

This guy above, Michael Vujovich, 61, of Windsor, is alive today because of American medical heart procedures.

Stupid Democrats. They are drunk with power and in their quest for more power, they are willing and determined to kill the economy, eradicate capitalism and sacrifice the world's best health care system.

winging it

From Bloomberg: "Impromptu Obamanomics is getting scarier by the day. For all the president’s touted intelligence, his un-teleprompted comments reveal a basic misunderstanding of capitalist principles."

And he's 'double-flipped' on the public option of the House insurance reform bill. The Prez mentioned jettisoning the public option on Saturday in Colorado, then HHS Secretary Sebelius mentioned that the public option 'wasn't essential' Sunday on television and all hell broke loose.

Gibbs, Obama and Sebelius are now all saying "nothing's changed" on the White House push for health insurance reform. What a lie. Stuff changes at the White House all the time. They are scrambling, panicked and scared.

Is it 2012 yet?

a bunch of idiots

Rep. Allen Boyd said Monday that it would be an 'excellent idea' to start over on health care.

Um, yeah. We've got the White House. We've got huge majorities in both houses of Congress. "Why don't we just start over"? So says the above Allen Boyd (D-FL).

And while we're @ it, let's NOT setup another snitch box, okay?

feckless democrats

The much-vaunted Canadian health care system is reportedly thinking of modeling themselves after America with a private health-care delivery method.

Oh, and the Obamatrons are now saying the public option (a.k.a. socialized medicine, a.k.a., government run health care) in 'health insurance reform' (the legislation formerly known as health CARE reform) isn't 'essential.' It would be 'difficult' to do without it, but it's not 'essential.' It's a turkey of a political issue because nobody wants it, but, yeah, it's not 'essential.'

Sure, you could phrase it like that. Kinda like it depends on what the meaning of the word 'is,' is.

overloading the servers

From the AP:
"Amid a boisterous debate on health care reform, people flooded members of Congress on Thursday with so many e-mails that they overloaded the House's primary Web site."
But this isn't really indicative of what's going on across the country, right?

Oh, coincidentally, the 'end-of-life-provision' in the House 'insurance reform' bill, has been killed by the Senate.

a-hole

http://www.topnews.in/usa/files/Senator-Harry-Reid.jpg

The Democrats always accuse the opposition of engaging in the tactics they, themselves, engage in. It's the classic 'pot calling the kettle black.'

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is out there calling health insurance reform protesters "evil mongers," totally ignoring the fact that he (Reid) is one of the most dishonest, hate-filled, evil politicians in DC.

Hey, Harry, you big piece of crap. You and Nancy both have bulletproof federal insurance. How about you leave mine the hell alone?

insurance

It's pathetic to hear the President pretending to know what he's talking about when it comes to health care. He speaks of tests and surgeries and doctors that have absolutely nothing to do with each other. He thinks GP's perform tonsillectomies.

He's badly uninformed. At least he's finally wearing his flag pin.

You wanna talk about real health care reform? Check out what John Mackey, the founder of Whole Foods has to say about fixing what ails American health care. Funny, Mackey's prescriptions sound very similar to McCain's 2008 campaign health care proposals..

'spreading the facts'

Rampant opposition to ObamaCare is sweeping the nation, so what do the Democrats do? Do they patiently try to explain their plan and sell it to concerned citizens?

No, Obama orders his ACORN/Union thugs to go to town hall meetings and throw some muscle around.

Speaking of the Prez, he's lying through his teeth today in New Hampshire, talking about how he isn't advocating a single payer system. (Funny.) That's exactly what he's been advocating all along, a single payer system.

The polling and focus groups must be telling him that he shouldn't talk about single payer anymore, so he's adjusted his rhetoric, just like he did last week, suddenly going from 'health care reform' to 'health insurance reform.'

Reality check. (um, not the the new White House health care propaganda website.) ObamaCare is about killing private insurance, it's about gutting Medicare, it's about allowing the government to know everything about everyone of us. It's about power. The public doesn't want ObamaCare. And the elderly really don't want ObamaCare.

ObamaCare is not about providing options or cutting costs or expanding treatment. How are you going to 'expand' care without hiring 50 million new doctors and 100 million new nurses?

I just heard the Prez say 'critics of ObamaCare are using scare tactics.' No we're not. We're going to town hall meetings and reading straight from the bill itself.

Oops. BO just contradicted himself again, comparing Fed Ex and UPS to the post office, he said, 'It's the post office that's always having problems.' That's right, Mr. President. The government run enterprise is a failed disaster while the private sector companies are hugely successful and profitable. Lesson: Private sector insurance companies will always be better than government HMO's.

The key is profitability.

rewarding depravity

Who is Mary Robinson and why is Obama giving her the Presidential Medal of Freedom?

She's an anti-American, UN-loving, Israel-hating, military-averse bureaucrat.

Wait. She's the female Obama. Okay, never mind, it all makes sense now.

'tone deaf'

rabinowitz

Some noteworthy quotes from a Dorothy Rabinowitz column in today's WSJ about ObamaCare:

"The president has a problem. For, despite a great election victory, Mr. Obama, it becomes ever clearer, knows little about Americans. He knows the crowds—he is at home with those. He is a stranger to the country’s heart and character.

"Who would have believed that this politician celebrated, above all, for his eloquence and capacity to connect with voters would end up as president proving so profoundly tone deaf? A great many people is the answer—the same who listened to those speeches of his during the campaign, searching for their meaning."

Or, put another way, Obama isn't a regular American. He's a cold, Manchurian, robotic talking head, bent on implementing the far Left agenda Democrats have been dreaming about for 40 years, since LBJ left office. Right Rahm?

Monday, August 10

'weird math'

Obama was hyping the better than expected unemployment figures last week but he neglected to factor in the weird math of statisticians.

Take out the weird math and the number of people who lost jobs in July is closer to 600,000 than the 247,000 the Prez was talking about.

slow joe

Great piece from Hugh Hewitt on Vice President Biden.

the un-american democrats

Throughout the Bush years, Democrats routinely called their President a liar, a moron, a Nazi, a loser, an illegitimate President. It was never about policy, they just hated him. And they bitched and moaned about civil liberties and free speech, which was a complete canard, they were always free to speak their mind without limitation.

Now, the American electorate, Republicans, Independents and even some Democrats, just regular people, have heartfelt concerns and apprehensions about Obama policies and we're being called 'un-American,' we're being compared to Nazi's, we're labeled 'racists.' What could more Constitutionally American than questioning our elected leaders about their policies?

If we're so crazy and public opinion is so pro-ObamaCare, why did Steny Hoyer's office feel the need to create a health reform/insurance reform/socialized medicine manned-around-the-clock "War Room"?

If the Democrats are so proud of their legislation, why are fewer and fewer members of Congress unwilling to hold town hall meetings in their districts? Why are many of them afraid to face their constituents?

Questioning Bush's intelligence wasn't legitimate 'debate.' It was counter-productive, hyper-partisan politics. Questioning Obama's policies is completely Constitutional and wholly American. The assertion by the Democrats that we can't challenge their bad legislation is in and of itself, un-American. Stifling debate is un-American.

growing the deficit

Spending in DC is up 21% (or $530 million) over this same time last year.

The Bush deficit was $455 billion. The Obama deficit is slated to be $1.8 trillion by the end of the fiscal year, Sept. 30.

President Bush was a big spender, but Obamanomics is even worse. And there's been total hypocrisy, I mean, silence, on this from the Left.

Thank you, for making me acutely aware of film since forever. I'm obsessed and it's all your fault.

obama fails

Oj_Obamacare

Karl Rove writes a brilliant piece in the Wall Street Journal today about how dependent Obama has become on polling and focus group data to drive White House policy, specifically on health care reform, I mean, health insurance reform.

Every politician in the world commissions polls and focus groups to ascertain constituent opinion. That's just the way it is. I remember being disgusted by President Clinton's reliance on polling. And I was impressed with President Bush's ability to distinguish between the polls and his principles.

For Obama, 'health care reform' has suddenly morphed into 'health insurance reform,' undoubtedly because of what Clyde in Terra Haute and Sylvia in Tucson had to say in focus groups. But, as Rove correctly points out, Obama has no credibility in attacking the same insurance companies he stood shoulder to shoulder in unison with just five short months ago.

Governing by polls is a bad idea, but it stems from the Liberal obsession with being popular. The problem is leaders aren't always popular. In the times when a president isn't popular he or she has to lead by their gut. God forbid a pollster isn't available. This is why Republicans accuse the Left of not having any principles. Because they don't.

Instead, they tell us what they think we want to hear. Which is how Obama got elected in 2008. By sounding Conservative. Meanwhile, unemployment is creeping to 10%. Obama promised it wouldn't go beyond 8%.

confirming that i'm going to puke

Sonia Sotomayor was confirmed to the Supreme Court today by a 68-31 vote. I find it outrageous that eight Republican Senators voted for this racist.

Bond (MI)
Gregg (NH)
Martinez (FL)
Voinovich (OH)
Collins (ME)
Snowe (ME)
Graham (SC)
Lugar (IN)

A very green and confused Al Franken (D-FL) presided over the Senate vote, too. It wasn't funny, but the childish Democrats laughed themselves silly.

new generation

Carly Fiorina? Smart. Good communicator. Attractive. Real world business experience. Fiscal conservative. I'd love her to challenge the brain dead moron Barbara Boxer in 2010.

Apparently, I'm not the only one. Polls show Fiorina nearly tying the incumbent and she hasn't even officially announced her candidacy.

How great of a 1-2 punch would it be for California to have a Governor like former businessman and current California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner or former eBay CEO Meg Whitman AND have a senator like Carly Fiorina?

boneheads

The White House says the the economic stimulus is working, yet there are now 34 million Americans on food stamps, the most ever. Hey, that's real tangible hope and change to believe in, isn't it?

Yeah, Obama is doing a great job. His approval numbers are now down to 50%, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.

According to a CNN poll, more Americans believe Obama is a failure than believed Bush was a failure at a similar point in 2001.

And the war on terror is over, by the way. Additionally, there is no such thing as a 'Jihadist' or a 'global war.' These words and phrases are banned in the White House for some reason. Maybe they can't spell them? This reminds me of the debate over the meaning of the word 'Is' during the Clinton years.

what's another $200 million?

Excuse me. What's another $550 million?

Ordering new private jets so members of Congress can gallivant the globe on MORE taxpayer-funded junkets?

Why not?

From Roll Call:
"The Appropriations Committee simply "decides that the cost of 'big ticket' items [like new jets] are program increases -- not earmarks -- so they require less public disclosure."
Just like the Founders intended, I'm sure. Way to go, Democrats!

culture of corruption

Jefferson

It is a good day indeed when a slimeball Democrat is convicted for being a slimeball. In this case, the slimeball is former Congressman William Jefferson (D-LA), pictured above.

Jefferson is the guy, you might recall, who hid $90,000 in his freezer. He's the guy who was taking bribes and trying to extend his businesses in Africa by illegal means.

'disappointment with obama'

This sub-head on a Washington Post piece on the Virginia gubernatorial campaign caught my eye today:

"Some Voters Who Backed President Disillusioned Over Economic Pledges"

"[Obama's] just not as advertised," said voter Chris Ann Cleland. "Nothing's changed for the common guy. I feel like I've been punked."

"The mood is becoming just as lousy for the Democrats as it has been for us the last couple of years," said J. Kenneth Klinge, a longtime Virginia GOP strategist. "It's evening the playing field."

Cleland's attitude seems to be reflected in the polls, in Virginia and New Jersey.

Virginia Democratic candidate Creigh Deeds 'has declined to take firm stands' on issues. [How typical.] As a result GOP candidate Bob McDonnell has a firm lead 50%-39%.

In New Jersey, GOP gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie holds a commanding 52%-38% lead over incumbent boob Democratic Governor Jon Corzine.

driving the deficit

Seventy one percent of Americans believe that Obama is adding to the deficit with reckless spending.

Says Rasmussen: "88% of Republicans blame the president’s policies, compared to 52% of Democrats. But 79% of voters not affiliated with either party agree."

hardball

My Congressman, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) wrote a letter to Obama's chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel, telling him to "back off" his Chicago-style intimidation tactics of Republican opponents.

"Following reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has been orchestrating an effort to intimidate members of Congress and Governors who raise legitimate concerns regarding the effectiveness of the stimulus, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Ranking Member Darrell Issa (R-CA) sent a letter to Emanuel saying “While this type of scare tactic may work In Chicago, it will not work to intimidate me or other Members of the United States Congress.”

“I and others have dared to bring these facts to the attention of President Obama, the Congress and the American people,” Issa wrote. “You’ve unfortunately reacted by once again resorting to the playbook of the Chicago political machine.”

"Last month, Politico reported that Emanuel had “launched a coordinated effort to jam” Senator Kyl and other Administration critics… “[A]fter seeing Kyl and House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) again paint the legislation as a failure on Sunday talk shows, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel directed that the letters from the Cabinet secretaries be sent to [Governor] Brewer, according to two administration officials.”

"Issa noted, “The fact that the letters were coordinated by you to maximize the level of intimidation is supported by the timing, structure, and content of each letter. Not only were the four letters all sent the day following Senator Kyl’s remarks, but they were also remarkably similar in tone and sentence structure.”

Quashing free speech? That's not very American, Rahm.

Editor's note: Great photo. The ornate beauty of the Oval Office... It's just too bad those two slugs are in the shot. Also, Obama's desk looks empty. Is he working or just on vacation like Clinton was for eight years? [Maybe he IS just an empty suit, a puppet of Axelrod and Rahmbo.]

selective outrage

Bush-the-Joker002-copy[1].jpg

Vanity Fair, 2008. Nobody called this "politically mean spirited and dangerous."

LA Weekly, a Liberal rag, wrote that the Obama-as-Joker poster "has a bit of everything to appeal to the drunk tank of California conservatism: Obama is in white face, his mouth (like Ledger’s Joker’s) has been grotesquely slit wide open and the word “Socialism” appears below his face. The only thing missing is a noose."

Yet, they had absolutely no problem with publishing the above portrait of President Bush-as-a-vampire via the Obama 'Hope' artist (and copyright thief) Shepard Fairey.

clunker

Forty-eight percent (48%) of U.S. voters now rate the U.S. health care system as good or excellent.

democrats are stupid

US Government tax revenues are now lower than any other time in American history except the Great Depression.

Why don't Democrats understand that the lower the taxes, the higher the tax revenue?

Easy answer. They're dumb. So what does that say for the rest of their policies?

get well, senator

http://chicagoagainstobama.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/chrisdodd24.jpg

I'm sorry to hear about Chris Dodd (D-CT) having prostate cancer.

While I strongly disagree with the man and his party on policy, I wish him nothing but the best in life, happiness and health.

That opinion stands in sharp contrast to the vile haters on the Left who undoubtedly would be celebrating right now if Dodd was a Republican.

Conservatives are, by and large, better people.

obama as joker posters?

http://blogs.laweekly.com/ladaily/Obama-socialism%20Joker.jpg

They're popping up all over LA.

From Associated Content:

"A year ago, Barack Obama was cool, sophisticated, charismatic, the very picture of the Presidential candidate that every woman wanted and every man wanted to be.
"Now [The President] has become a kind of macabre joke that we the people of the United States have played on ourselves. The greatest horror of all, health care reform, has people who have never protested anything before out in the streets and acting so raucously at Congressional town meetings that some members of Congress have cancelled their meetings for fear of having to confront angry constituents with pitch forks and torches."
People are rebelling against the lies of Obamacare.

In Texas.

In Pennsylvania.

In New York.

Yes, Obama is a joke. A very bad joke. Is it 2012 yet?

'doing what's necessary'

That's what Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said today on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos when he refused to rule out raising taxes on the middle class. Doing what's necessary.

I thought Obama promised to cut taxes for 95% of Americans?

This just what we Conservatives warned about all during the 2008 Presidential campaign, raising taxes. We said Obama, like all Liberals, is going to raise taxes. All 2008 Obama talked like a moderate and sounded like a Conservative, talking about 'cutting taxes.' I said he was lying and he was.

Look, Geithner's nose is growing, like Pinocchio.
